Does anyone have any tips on how to lower your electricity bill?

Turn off what you are not using.
Keep the sun out in the summer.
Using the light through a window during cool weather will save.

Wash only full loads and use the washer and not the dryer at the same time.
The dryer is an electric hog...dry only full loads.

Using a fan to draw air through a room or into another room when the ac is on. Box fans are good for this.
The oven is 220. Not using it much will help.

Using the energy saver in the water heater and the fridge will help.

Turning the tv off when not watching it works too.

Turn off the main breaker!!!! Just kidding. The refrigerator and freezer uses a lot of energy. How many do you have running?
Put Timer on Electric Hot Water Heater
Insulate the Water Heater
Insulate the Water Pipes
Have the house air sealed from the basement up
Good windows
Use Window Blinds and curtains
Replace all bulbs with LED's not just a couple
Replace dawn to dusk outdoor lights with motion detector LED's
Use natural gas appliances - replace dryer
Replace dryer with insulated version
Clean out dryer vent all the way to the outside of the house to reduce consumption

If your light bulbs are all CFL or LED, then your major power draws left are heat, AC, oven, dryer and hot water heater. A programmable thermostat would be your best bet for reducing the power bill. The water heater, and hot water pipes under the house can also be insulated. Use a counter top toaster oven for most things and keep the oven off except in winter and when cooking a turkey. Dry clothes at night to reduce heating/cooling costs. Check seals around doors and windows.

The most important thing is to keep the sun out and the cool air in. You need good insulation and good window covers. I used to have some large rugs I put on hot walls...like in the old castles. Just check for hot air coming in and then do what you can do outside to have bushes and trees that shade your house or room. Then do the turn off thing and don't open and close the fridge door often. I have window a/cs so I only cool the room I am currently in and leave most a/c on low or where it comes on at a certain temp and then I crank it up when I will be in that room. Be sure you have the right size units for your rooms. I do have a wind turbine in my attic to suck the hot air out and I also installed a fan at the top of my high ceilings and when I turn it on it pulls in the cooler night air and the hot air at the ceiling goes out.

When you're replacing light bulbs, replace them with LEDs. Home Depot sells 60 Watt equivalent LEDs in a multi pack at a reasonable price. Check your attic insulation level. Attic batts are cheap and help a bunch. We run the AC at 78 in summer and use fans. Fans are cheaper than AC. Every 1degree decrease in the AC setting will cut 10% off your bill. We run the heat at 68 in the winter and wear sweaters or sweats in the house. At night I turn it down to 64 and use heavier blankets. If leaving for several days or for a vacation turn off the water heater and unplug the TVs and stereos. Spring and fall my bills are in the $70s. Mid summer and winter average around $150 for a 1400 sq foot house with an exterior work shop.

question is, how far are you willing to go to do it? Simply cutting off everything you're not using, like tvs, dvr's ect will cut it some, but you must reprogram every time you go to use it. Using LED or fluorescent lights in every socket will also help. If the biggest energy user is your air conditioner, perhaps it's time to upgrade to something like a ground source heat pump, they use much less electricity than regular air conditioning systems, or you could simply do without it. How far are you willing to go?

Don't change the dryer to gas unless you already have the gas line run to the dryer.
Air conditioning uses the most electricity. Put the thermostat close to the temperature you use in the Winter. Most people over do the cold air because it is so easy to do. Learn to live at a comfortable temp.

Sure. Don't use so much electricity.

Turn off lights if you don't need them. Run power-intensive appliances like dryers during off-peak hours. Buy energy-efficient appliances. Switch from incandescent to LED lighting.

turn off your hot water for a while , turn off all lights when not being used , turn of tv in mornings and while having meals ,
